I am a new Hold Em player and have just started playing at a local Hard Rock Seminole Casino on the $1 tables. They do not offer a no limit game, which is good for me since I am a beginner. I have only played a couple of times and am down about $40 or so. The game is fast and is different than playing online. Any suggestions or pointers would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

welcome to the RX one...actually NL is MUCH better to play if you are buying in for 100$, for example....Instead of the 2-4 games...You can PROTECT your hand much better in NL...and people will not try to suck out on you at the river

but if your playing that low limit raise the pot once in awhile from 1$ to 2$ just to keep people guess what you have...

If your waiting for pocket Rockets or Cowboys everytime you won't win much

Play within your means and in a few months you will want higher limit play

good luck sir

Also, when you're ready for the progression to no-limit, try pot limit first. It's kind of a combination of fixed/no limit but it's a good step before plunging into no limit. At least with pot limit, the raise is not so aggressive preflop, generally. Study the power of hands preflop and what their percentages are against other hands preflop. No limit is an isolation game where most of the times, you will be going heads up with someone on the river so you want to know the percentages like the back of your hand. A good site is cardplayer.com. They have a neat odds calculator where you can input two hands against each other and it will calculate the odds and you can even choose the flop too.

My advise would be to buy some books and do some studying before you play anymore.

Best of luck to you; poker is a terrific game.
